Highway (HW)
A sufficient distance between the six test vehicles was always selected so that
slipstream and air turbulence had no effect on riding resistance and thus on
wear.
Speed regulations: 120 km/h.
Course: Highways between Málaga, Algeciras, Jerez, Sevilla, Cordoba and
Antequerra.
Riding cycle: 600 kilometers.
Country Road (PR=Public Road)
Speed regulations: 90 to 110 km/h. On the winding sections (MarbellaRonda)
the speed was more moderate compared to the "mountain road" test runs.
Course: A mixture of moderate mountain roads (MR) and relatively straight
country roads. Marbella-Ronda-Algodonales-Ardales-Alora-Malaga.
Mountain Road (MR)
On the mountain and country road cycles, the test riders had to maintain a
minimum distance of 2 seconds to guarantee that the recordings were as even
and reliable as possible.
Speed regulations: More dynamic riding style in terms of acceleration and braking
than on the "country road" test run.
Course: Highest possible number of bends per kilometer. The section between Alozaina and El Burgo was used as the assessment section for the functional test.
Weather:
Largely dry but cool weather persisted throughout the test drives, with approximately similar temperatures. Because of the significant differences in altitude - from around 10 meters above sea level up to 1100 meters - the air temperature fluctuated between 18 degrees and around 5 degrees Celsius.
